Influence of God's Glory

DAY 8 OF 24

The Ark Moves to Jerusalem

The ark was a box of acacia wood that held the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments. The cover of the ark, known as the mercy seat, was the place God’s Presence would be manifested and where God would commune with his people. The ark was the most treasured possession of the Hebrew people and it was housed in the Tabernacle. David decided to transport the ark, God’s holy seat, to Jerusalem. David was building the city of Jerusalem to become the center of political leadership in Israel and now, he wants the city to be the center of their religion as well.

1. David knew God and wanted to experience the blessing of his presence. The ark was an object that manifested God’s presence. Read 1 Corinthians 3:16. How do we experience his holy Presence today?

About this Plan

Influence of God's Glory

By the end of this study, we pray that you will know God’s voice better, that you will know when and how he speaks, and feel compelled to obey. As we study Scripture, we will discover that God’s plan cannot be thwarted regardless of who is in power. The point of the original monarchy found in 1 and 2 Samuel, illustrates that from the beginning.
