Influence of God's Glory

DAY 22 OF 24

God Will Guide You to Success, Lift You From Failures

The monarchies of David and Solomon are considered the most successful in Israel’s history. David spent much of his reign as a military strategist and under his leadership, Israel and Judah became a strong nation and achieved peace and rest from their enemies. King Solomon was known throughout the world for his wisdom and his wealth. During his reign, Solomon built the temple, palaces, fortified Jerusalem, and invested in the education and culture of the nation. Israel achieved their height of wealth and influence during his reign.

Even with the great success of these kings, each experienced great failure as well. Both kings compromised the purity of their faith to gain political and economic comfort and each experienced moral failure. Their stories are preserved in Scripture because they were men of great faith who sought forgiveness for their failures. Through their influence and hard work, the nation was blessed but spiritually compromised as well. Their lives have continued to influence God’s people through their words, preserved in Scripture.

1. What lesson(s) from David and Solomon do you feel the Lord has called you to apply to your own life today?

About this Plan

Influence of God's Glory

By the end of this study, we pray that you will know God’s voice better, that you will know when and how he speaks, and feel compelled to obey. As we study Scripture, we will discover that God’s plan cannot be thwarted regardless of who is in power. The point of the original monarchy found in 1 and 2 Samuel, illustrates that from the beginning.
