Life Lessons - Psalms

DAY 4 OF 5

ALL GLORY IS FOR THE LORD

In this day and age, many people glorify other people because of their qualities. Many people also want to be exalted, respected, and admired. They use power, wealth, and position for their interests or the satisfaction of their flesh.

Psalm 8 makes us realize who should be glorified. In this section, we want to emphasize the greatness of God as creator and government (verse 2b-3). In verse 3, the psalmist compares two human characteristics. He compares “nursing babies and children” with “enemies and vengeance”. The word “babies” means humans with their weakness and humility, yet they have the power to silence God's enemies.

God has the power to exalt the lowly and humble the proud. Only simple and humble people can acknowledge and glorify God in their lives. Meanwhile, a proud person will not acknowledge and submit to God, and therefore, he cannot glorify God's majesty.
