My Lord Knows the Way

DAY 3 OF 4

Imagine how it must feel to lose a child to sin. Despite everything you have taught them, they have chosen to make the wrong life decisions anyway. As they drift and drift, you pray and pray, giving it all to God. It had to be how the prodigal son’s father was feeling.

Can you imagine when his son realized his life was on the wrong track?

After losing everything he had, he looked within and assessed the quality of his life (see Luke 15:17). Letting go of his pride may have been one of the hardest things he had to do, yet he did what was necessary to correct the course he was on and repented:

“And the son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.” (Luke 15:21).

Imagine the father’s emotions after the years it took to see his son delivered. When someone loses their way, it may not be an unwillingness to live righteously but a struggle to overcome a weakness. In his heart, he wanted one life, but God determined his steps (see Proverbs 16:9).

Who can you pray for today? Ask God to prepare your heart in joyful expectation of divine deliverance. Pour out your heart to God; He’s waiting for you.

About this Plan

My Lord Knows the Way

There is a way to live a more virtuous, balanced life, but only one road can take us there. In this four-day reading plan, Bree Jackson encourages believers and those new to the Christian faith to trust God as their daily compass in everything they do and everywhere they go.
