Running Our Race - Going for Gold

DAY 1 OF 5

WARNING: The following may be dangerous to our comfort.

A clear vision and focused objectives are universally accepted as important tools to be used to keep us on track in achieving our life’s most important purposes. They give us direction and a sense of mission. Without vision, we wander.

According to Hebrews 12:1, we followers of Jesus are all running a “race that has been set before us.” We call it “The Race of Life.” In the context of this verse and portion of scripture, we understand that the race is “set” for us by God. He sets it and we run it. The race runs from the moment of our new birth as Christians and ends at our physical death.

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s intentional workmanship created in Christ Jesus to run our race. So, what does winning “gold” in this race look like? To help us consider the answer let’s use our sanctified imaginations and reflect on some questions.

First, what if there were such a thing as a “Runners Hall of Fame” in heaven. And what if there were three sections in this totally and respectfully imaginary place in heaven marked:

“Bronze medal Christian runners”

“Silver medal Christian runners”

“Gold Medal Christian runners”

Which section do you think would be the largest? Which would be the smallest? Which section would you hope to be placed in?

This question is intended to be taken seriously. In your true heart of hearts, where would you aspire to be?

Dag 2
