Year of the Bible: Part Four of Twelve

DAY 21 OF 30

Advancing Toward Your Destiny; What it Takes to Get From Here to There!

God is bringing us, as a church, and you and I as a believer, into a season of significant advance. God has fulfilled so many promises, and there are still many more yet to be fulfilled in our midst!

At this critical crossroad we read in Joshua 3, the Israelites face the boundary of the Promised Land, which had been promised generations earlier. Many had believed the promise made first to Abraham and then repeated. Generations of God's people carried this promise in their hearts but were not this close to entering.

The people were not who they once were (enslaved people), and they were not called to be nomads, perpetually wandering in the wilderness as they had for forty years since escaping the Egyptians. They were not yet in the place of their destiny. On the other side of going "from here to there" was this scary thing called "change." Life would be different: sowing and reaping instead of manna, no more cloud by day and fire by night, exchanging tents for houses, and hoards of enemies to drive out.

How do you advance? The people of Israel needed to face the impossibility of crossing the Jordan at high water, and with their eyes on the Ark, they had to take steps of faith before they saw God split waters. The miracle was made manifest when they took their first steps, and their feet got wet.

Questions:
What about you? Are there promises from God you are still waiting for? What lifestyle patterns would have to change to get to the destiny and dreams God has put in your heart? Can you say "Yes" to those?

Prayer Focus:
Identify the impossibilities that lay ahead. You will need God's help to cross over and through them because only God can move them out of the way. Pray like it all depends on Him because it actually does!
