Peace in the Midst of Turmoil

DAY 2 OF 5

Perhaps you find yourself today desiring a healing. Maybe you are suffering from the loss of a loved one, a broken marriage, a wayward child, or bankruptcy. You have seen how others seem to have a peace in the middle of their storm and you would love to have that same quietness in your spirit.

Within each of our souls there is a quest for peace in the broken areas of our lives.

Isaiah 26:3 says, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

The phrase “perfect peace” is shalom shalom in the Hebrew language. This same word repeated twice results in a beautiful picture of peace repeating itself. Shalom is often defined as a “completeness” or “soundness.”

Who wouldn’t love to have a sense of completeness or soundness of mind for whatever desire or situation they are facing today? Of course every man or woman would like to have this kind of peace in their spirit, but how?

This perfect, complete peace is given to those who have their minds stayed on God, meaning that our minds are unflinching or firm. A mind filled with the soundness of peace is unwavering in the midst of turmoil.

Still, how can this be achieved? The answer is found in the next line: because we trust Him.

We trust Him with our fears and failures, to pick us up when we fall down. We trust Him with our hopes and futures, to fulfill the work that He has started in us. We trust Him with our marriage, our kids, our finances, our healing, or any other pressing need we have. We simply trust.

Trusting God allows our minds to stay firm and the result is a perfect peace. It all goes hand in hand. So why not reach up your hand today to be held in His? He is waiting with open arms for you to trust in Him.
