Hope in God!

DAY 12 OF 15

Hope for Creation

All the Bible verses we have studied so far are about people putting their hope in God. But the Bible also pictures the future of creation as hopeful. That is a refreshing perspective, since the general expectation nowadays seems to be that our natural environment is deteriorating rapidly, that the earth is suffering from over-exploitation and climate change — and will collapse sooner or later. This expectation is completely justified if we observe what is happening around us, and base our predictions on the current developments. But the Bible gives us a broader perspective. First of all, it shows where natural disasters and suffering come from: “For the creation was subjected to futility … For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now” (Romans 8:20-22). Ever since sin entered God’s creation, creation has suffered its consequences. But when Jesus returns, this will change! When sin will be no more, creation will be set free from its bondage to corruption.

There is hope! Not just for humans, but for all creation.

About this Plan

Hope in God!

For many people, “hope” is something positive but also something uncertain. If we hope for something, we are not sure whether it will happen. However, the Bible teaches us that there is a source of hope that is absolutely certain and trustworthy — God's character and promises. This reading plan is about hope from a Biblical perspective.
