Jesus Is Alive by David MathisSýnishorn
Our Savior’s Heart Beats Still
Now Jesus’ glorified human heart will never again cease to beat. It pumps the blood of eternal life through his human veins—and for all his people.
Resurrected, he ascended to heaven in our human flesh and blood. He pioneered our way into the very presence of God as our fellow human and sat down, with all authority, on heaven’s throne at the right hand of his Father. And one day soon, we will see him as he is and be like him.
Jesus, our Lord, has “entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption” for his people (Hebrews 9:12).
Even now, “in him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7). In him, we are “the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood” (Acts 20:28)—that is, “the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:19).
Now, in Christ, our hearts beat. He has opened the eyes of our hearts to see “the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe” (Ephesians 1:18-19). Even as we know our present physical hearts will one day stop as his did, he has promised us that we will rise like him.
How precious is the beating, blood-pumping heart of the Son of God? Infinitely precious.
