Wisdom for Peacemaking

DAY 4 OF 7

Jesus says peacemakers are blessed or have God’s favor, and they will be called God’s children. This statement is more significant than we can fully absorb without narrowly focused pondering. One wonderful result of receiving peace God gives through Jesus is bringing peace to others. We can tell them about the hope of the gospel message and guide them toward reconciliation.

Look at this closely. We are peacemakers because the spirit of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, lives in us. One Bible commentary says that peacemakers “love peace and make peace.” Followers of Jesus do peacemaking because that is who we are.

APPLICATION

So before you try to do peacemaking, remember you are a peacemaker. Why are you a peacemaker? Jesus is in you. Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. He has made peace between you and God. The ultimate peacemaker is living in you. I want so badly for you to get this that I will say it again and again. People aren’t peacemakers because they do peacemaking. Believers in Jesus are peacemakers because that is who they are, which determines what they do.

Heavenly Father, today I am telling myself that I am a peacemaker because of Jesus. I am grateful I am not acting or pretending. I am simply being who you created me to be: a container of your peace, someone who makes peace through your Son, Jesus. (Continue praying.)
