Moments for Mums: Women of the Christmas Story - Part 1Sýnishorn
Have you ever felt embarrassed or ashamed about something that is out of your control? Elizabeth lived in a time and culture where being childless was considered shameful. For years she had endured this. Imagine her loneliness and pain as she watched other women conceive and have children. Many of her friends would be grandmothers. But God, in his perfect timing, had a special plan for Elizabeth: to bear a son who would herald the coming of the Messiah!
It’s not wrong to try to solve a problem we have. But let us try to rest in God’s plan for us. There is peace in trusting that he is in control.
When things in my life seem to be going wrong, if I can honestly say I have done everything I can to do the godly thing, I tell myself: "If it’s out of my hands, it’s in his."
Question
What problem could you let go of and trust God with?
Prayer
Lord, I know I so often try to fix everything myself. Help me to have the wisdom to know which things I need to do and when to give them into your hands. Help me to live the Serenity Prayer: grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.
