Whose Am I?

DAY 1 OF 7

Divine Family

To adopt is to make a person a legal son or daughter.

Christ came so you and I could be adopted into God’s family as His children. Under Roman adoption, the life of the adopted child changed completely. They lost all rights in their old family, all debts canceled, nothing from the past life counted against them anymore. They gained all new rights as part of their new family.

In the previous verse, Paul reminds us if we are led by the Spirit of God, we are the sons of God. In this verse, he explains why it is so. He says we are not called to be slaves, nor are we to be driven by fear. We are instead drawn to the heart of God, to be the children of God. That is what causes us to cry out Abba, Father! Living as a child of God means an intimate, joyful glorious relationship with God, crying out in love to our Father for our every need.

Have you accepted God’s Spirit of adoption to be part of His divine family?

Abba thank you for making me your child!

About this Plan

Whose Am I?

You and I do not get to choose our human families. Some of us are blessed with great families, while many of us are not. And yet, every one of us can be part of God’s divine family. We have a Heavenly Father, who loves us unconditionally and invites each of us into His family. Explore further through this seven-day plan from Find Rest My Soul by Preethi Alice Jacob.
