Fighting
Choosing to rest, especially during busy seasons of life, can be seen as selfish and is easy to avoid.
We know how important it is for us to be continually filled up because we are always pouring out. But the thoughts of, “I don’t deserve to rest” or, “I am being selfish by giving myself time,” can seem overwhelming at times. I believe these thoughts come from the enemy. He does everything in his power to keep us from living a life of ease and instead wants us to be weighed down by the things of the world so we will give up.
How do we learn to fight the enemy when these thoughts come into our head? Thankfully we have a God that is fighting right next to us, and is honestly doing most of the work. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have to actively fight against the enemy as well. The enemy knows he has already lost the battle and that Jesus has defeated death. This does not stop him from trying to pry into the hidden places in our mind to make us feel shameful and unworthy.
One of the biggest tools we can use to fight is prayer. We have authority over the devil because of our identity in Christ and can use this to play offense in the war for our souls. The devil lies to us. He speaks false identity over us. He does not play by the rules. But prayer is more powerful than his lies and can be used to drive those thoughts away. Faith is our defense against the enemy. We have faith that God’s Word is true and will protect and guide us.
If we can combat the lies that flood our minds from the devil with God’s truth then we will realize how powerless the devil really is in our lives. If we build a foundation of who God says we are, we are less likely to be torn down by lies. Jesus says that if we build our house on a rock then when the storms come, the house will not fall.
God does not say our life will be without storms or trials that will attempt to rob us of the life we are called to, but using our tools given to us by Him and remaining in Christ, we will be able to come out standing on the other side.
About this Plan
We often find ourselves attempting to balance all of things in our lives and it's like we are spinning plates in the air full of all our responsibilities. God has a purpose for all of us. The perfect life we so desperately seek isn’t found in keeping all of the plates spinning, but it is in a relationship with a person, Jesus. He is calling us out of the chaos!
