1. We don’t believe that God has already given us all the tools that we need.
We know that we have something that God has placed on our hearts that we really want to do. An idea, a message, the desire to help, etc. But we brush off the idea or we keep saying “I’m going to do it” and we never get to it because we don’t think that we have what it takes to get it done or we’re afraid that we won’t be able to successfully accomplish the task or the assignment. But the truth is, any assignment that God asks you to do is not going to be something that you think you can do. The purpose of this is so that God can gain all the glory and that you do not fall into the sin of pride. But you have to learn to trust God enough to step out and complete what he is asking you to do, trusting that he has already equipped you with every tool that you need. Sometimes you won’t see these tools until you start moving forward. But if you could see all the tools now, then this would not be trust nor would it be faith. So if you are struggling to believe that you are able to accomplish the task or assignment on hand and you are struggling to feel that you have all the tools that you need, then I want you to take some time to meditate on the following scriptures:
“May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:21
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
