Recognizing Your Invisible Mentors

DAY 1 OF 5

WHAT IS AN INVISIBLE MENTOR?

Problems, fears, and challenging circumstances are never something we choose, but their presence in our lives demands a certain response on our part. The way we view our past mistakes and our present or future impossibilities will determine the way we deal with them. They either define us or we define them. We have three choices: to ignore them, to fear them, or to be motivated by them.

To best understand and glean strength, resilience, and joy from the trials and impossibilities you face throughout your life, I would like to offer my description of an invisible mentor. What it is and how it influences us will help you understand better how to recognize these invisible mentors in various circumstances and seasons of life.

An invisible mentor is:

each impossibility,
past or current,
visible or invisible,
sometimes created by our own choices
due to ignorance or arrogance,
at other times because of pride or naiveté,
perhaps dependent or independent of our decisions,
yet, somehow present in our reality.

Its presence challenges our core beliefs, desires to undermine our values, exposes our weaknesses, silences our voices, and eliminates our dreams. It carries a specific voice. It has an undermining purpose.

Sometimes it screams loudly through fear, regret, or shame. It tries to define us and imprison us to surrender to a life of mere existence and defeat.

We are faced with a choice,
to either allow its existence to destroy us and
define our future,
OR

to recognize it as an invisible mentor placed in our life to deepen our faith, overcome our fears, and develop inward resilience and authenticity built through internal strength and character.

One thing is certain: the journey of life reveals our need for complete dependence and surrender to God. He is the initiator of our stories, the healer of our brokenness, the satisfaction of our heart's longing.

It is my heart's desire that as you begin this study with me, you will experience a closer connection to Christ, as well as deeper sense of purpose and longing to realize the plans He has for you! Always remember that God is for you, and He is with you!

"Dear Lord Jesus,

May everyone reading this study experience Your love and healing power. Comfort them and give them courage and strength. Remind them that Your victory on the cross has paid for our eternal redemption. You have delivered us from the bondage of sin! Today we stand free and unashamed before You because we have been forgiven! I ask you to bless each reader, and may they always stay close to you, relying on your wisdom and power! In Jesus' Name, Amen!"
