The Shadow of Your WingsSýnishorn
“Well if we fall may we fall together but when we fly, we gone fly forever. So take a chance I bet we never land.”
I find it amazing that the Bible is full of people who had no idea what they were doing, or what tomorrow would hold. To name a few from the Old Testament: Moses, David, Gideon, Daniel, Joseph, Ruth, Esther, and the list goes on. These people simply trusted in the Lord no matter what crazy direction life went in. And then when you think about the disciples, it gets even more unpredictable. They dropped what they were doing, everything they knew and was comfortable in, and followed Jesus. And spent most of their time with Him still unsure of what was going on.
If you feel unsure of your life’s direction, be encouraged, for you are surely not alone. Like the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, God will guide you. Feelings come and go. But His guidance will always be constant.
One day I feel like singing, and the next day I want to quit. That is reality. Every time I sense my feelings outweighing God’s voice, I know I need to sit at His feet again. Read His words and pray and fast for His wisdom. Don’t be discouraged. Whether you can see it right now or not, God is working and preparing a plan for your life. Trust and rely on Him. Sincerely pray that He would close the doors He does not have for you and open the ones that are in line with Him. Every step of the way.
Sometimes His voice may be quiet. When it is quiet, we need to put away the distractions of life and truly seek and listen to Him alone. Even Jesus, who had a calling none of us could ever bear, needed to constantly go away by Himself to be with God. And He is God. How much more do we need constant reliance and time spent with Him to bring peace and discernment to our lives? I would say quite often.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to wake up every day and choose You. I trust that You will guide me and that Your plans are better than my own. Amen.
Action: If you are really seeking God’s voice on something specific (a career, direction, etc.), pray and fast and spend alone time away with Him. If you truly seek, He will truly answer.
