Breakthrough is in YouSýnishorn
Breakthrough is the capacity, ability, and power to overcome obstacles and break barriers. It is the aptitude to succeed where others fail and to overcome obstacles that hinder others. I want to show you how to increase that capacity and ability and venture forth in that power more dynamically in your life, so you can go where you are supposed to go, and others can follow your example. To do that, though, you must believe that you can go farther in life than where you are right now.
To set the stage for this concept of breaking through, I want to share with you the portion of scripture that triggered this notion of breakthrough for me.
“When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb. As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand; so the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist, and said, “This one came out first.” But when he drew back his hand, his brother came out, and she said, “So this is how you have broken out!” And he was named Perez. Then, his brother, who had the scarlet thread on his wrist, came out. And he was named Zerah.”
—Genesis 38:27-30 (NKJV)
This portion of scripture is part of an incredible story in Genesis 38. Here, we find a lady named Tamar who is pregnant with twins and about to give birth. Though she conceived in unusual circumstances, she had a strong desire to have a child because she understood the promise that was on the family of Judah. She understood the destiny that was to come to that lineage. Out of Judah’s loins, there was believed to be a line of kings through which the Messiah would ultimately be born. Some say that she so desperately wanted to see this happen and be a part of it that she tricked her way into it. When Judah went back on his word to give her to his son Shelah in marriage (see verses 11 and 14), she refused to take no for an answer and took matters into her own hands. Her tenacity caused her to make a way for herself and apprehend the desire of her heart and forever edge herself into the house of Judah and—ultimately—the lineage of Christ (see Matthew 1:2-3).
