Showing Up: Loving Others Like Jesus DoesSýnishorn
GOD LEAVES...OR DOES HE? (Jesus leaves his Spirit)
God, who “moved into the neighborhood," seemed about to move out again. Jesus’ friends asked him many questions both before and after his death and resurrection. His replies often led to more questions. He said a “Helper” would come to be with them, but they were still confused. How could it be good for Jesus - the most important person in their lives - to leave them?
Knowing their misunderstanding, Jesus said to them, “Peace I leave with you.” His peace is not like anything the world offers. It has nothing to do with political power, financial security, or social media notoriety. It's something entirely different, something much more powerful, something utterly mysterious.
When Jesus left this earth, it wasn't like most other departures. He didn't leave his friends in the way we usually think of being left - that is, being abandoned. He left his friends, yes. But he also left with and for them his Helper, or his Spirit, who makes it possible for us to to be with him, to abide with him, to remember his words, and to experience his love.
There is so much of life we don't understand right now, including the challenges our friends face in their daily lives, whether they will accept God's gift of new life, or what he will do in our ministry. But because of the peace Jesus left behind for us and the Holy Spirit's abiding presence, we can help others experience God’s love and freedom here and now.
Today, just as you did five days ago, simply receive God's love. Receive his peace. Receive his Holy Spirit. The Lord, who conquered sin by his death, loves and lives for you both now and forever.

About this Plan
The Bible tells us that the one true God who created the universe chose to “move into the neighborhood” and reveal himself to humanity. What does that mean for his followers? How can we show up for others like Jesus did for the world?
