Gift Three - Forgiveness
Did you know that you are forgiven?
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
- Isaiah 1:18 (NIV)
This scripture is beautiful. It demonstrates how God not only forgives us but goes above and beyond to wash us white as snow. And He does this time and time again!
"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea."
- Micah 7:18-19 (NIV)
God is the ultimate example of love, compassion and forgiveness. No matter how many times we sin against Him, He is quick to forgive every single time. Amazing, right?
Sometimes this amazing truth can be difficult to comprehend. Forgiving someone once may already be extremely difficult, but to do it hundreds of times may seem nearly impossible, at least in our own strength. The incredible thing is that God has no limits. The freedom and release that is found in Him is like no other.
Over 2000 years ago, a Saviour was brought into this world to pay the price for your sin and mine. Shame, guilt and condemnation no longer has a hold on us when we choose to live in the freedom of Jesus.
If there is something in your life that you have not yet taken to Jesus, why not let this Christmas be a time of release and fresh beginnings? You have unrestricted access to a Heavenly Father who longs to walk with you into the fullness of His Grace, forgiveness, peace and joy.
Spend time with Him today; allow Him to search your heart and reveal the areas of your life where you are not yet living in His fullness. Allow Him to gently work on those areas, to bring you into a new season of healing and peace.
