And Then the End Will Come: The Promise of Matthew 24:14Sýnishorn
Day Five: Our Blessed Hope
In his letter to Titus, Paul reminds us that the return of Christ is our “blessed hope.” To see what he means, consider what the return of Christ will mean. No more death, crying, sorrow, or pain. Every tear wiped away. No more sin and so no more struggle against sin. No more curse. Hunger, poverty, disease—gone. Worldwide justice, peace, and righteousness. The personal presence of God, forever and ever, everywhere.
It will literally be heaven on earth!
No matter how awesome your life is—or how awesome you’re hoping it may become—it does not begin to compare to life in the age to come.
God wants us to eagerly anticipate Jesus’ return. Second Peter 3:12 instructs us to “look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” In Philippians 3:20, Paul reminds us that “our citizenship is in heaven. We eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ . . .” Likewise, in 2 Timothy 4:8, Paul promises a reward—a crown of glory—for “all who have longed for his appearing.”
So if you’re a follower of Jesus, I want to encourage you to look forward to his return and his kingdom. It’s going to be awesome.
