Living Changed: As a Single MomSýnishorn
Freedom
Everything we’ve covered in this devotional is meant to lead you toward one thing—freedom in Christ. Through Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins, His burial, and His resurrection, we are given the opportunity to accept complete freedom in Him. This kind of freedom affords us the ability to embrace hope, find our true identity in Christ, receive and give forgiveness, enjoy a relationship with God, and walk in our purpose.
The Bible says when we embrace the truth, freedom will be released into our lives. Freedom in Christ means that you are not a victim to your circumstances, your past, or your worries about the future.
I struggled particularly with feeling like a victim to my own life. I didn’t feel free when I was surrounded by my needy kids, a messy house, and bills I couldn’t pay. It was really hard to see that what I was going through was only temporary. I had to remind myself that God is eternal and because of my relationship with Him, I am too. It wouldn’t always be this way. The only always is Jesus who was, is, and always will be the same.
With Jesus, you are empowered to do hard things. You can do more than survive single motherhood; you can thrive in it! As moms, we want the very best for our kids. What we have to realize is we can give our kids the best right now, in this moment, by surrendering how we wish things were or would have been.
The book of Proverbs talks about the “Virtuous Woman.” I love that a part of her legacy is that her children rise up and call her blessed. They’re proud to call her mom. We too have an incredible opportunity to create a legacy for our kids, and we can start right here, right now.
Dear God, I want to be more free. I want to do more than survive the season I am in. I want to leave a legacy of love, live in freedom, and access everything you have for me and my family. I invite you to continue to heal my heart. Please give me the confidence to be the mom You created me to be. Give me hope for the future and courage to pursue you all of my days. Amen.
We pray God used this plan to minister to your heart.
