30 Days To Greater Faith

DAY 10 OF 30

When I was in the process of dealing with my childhood abuse, one thing I had to learn was how to receive the unconditional love of God. This was such a challenge for me at first, because the hurt and abuse I had experienced had deeply woven into my mind and soul the belief that I had no worth or value to God or other people.

Deep down, I believed the only way I could be loved or have any worth was to earn it through performance. As a result, I found my identity in everything I did, rather than in who I was in Christ. I had to replace that false belief with the truth that the magnitude of God’s love for me did not hinge on the degree of my abilities or accomplishments.

All of us want to get to the place where we understand God loves us just as much in our “broken state” as He ever would in our “perfected state.” It doesn’t matter what we have gone through, what we have or don’t have, what other people have said about us; the truth is that God delights in us and our core identity is in Him.
