My Personal War Strategy for Young Adults

DAY 1 OF 5

DAY ONE: Class Is In Session - THE GREAT RESCUE

Sis, I am so excited that we get to connect over the next five days. As you’ve figured out by now, life is an interesting journey. You are not the adorable toddler waddling around anymore; you have become a young adult with numerous life experiences under your belt. Some of those experiences have been enjoyable while others may have been—let’s keep it real—a little rough. This is a moment for you to deeply inhale faith and boldly exhale fears. Together, let's commit to the process of living life as God intended. We can start by digging into some of those complex life experiences under your belt.

Have you ever thought while in school, “Why do I need to learn this? I am never going to use this in my life, so why is it relevant now?” Looking back, there were many instances where I had those same thoughts. When I couldn’t understand the significance of the day's lesson, I'd remove myself from the experience because I could not implement instant application from the knowledge.

I think we can all agree that God is a skilled teacher. He has the ability to teach us how our messiness can be built into a blessing. God qualified us as loved and treasured long ago. He gave us that lesson before we realized how much we would need to know and embrace it. Our goal over the next few days will help you uncover the lessons God spoke over you before you took your first breath.

God’s classroom has many students. Every lesson plan includes plans to prosper each of us and plans to keep us all protected. God grants each of us the freedom to show up for class or skip a few days, but the classroom is always opened, and there’s even a chance for you to catch up if you’ve been away.

Consider me that pesky hall monitor who wants to see your hall pass or send you back to class. Whether you’re not functioning at your best or are curious if you can go deeper, this is a sign that class is in session.

Moment of Reflection: One of the beautiful and yet challenging parts about walking with God is the ability to have free-will. God gave us the choice to make our own choices. The beauty is no matter what we choose, God's love for us will never change. The challenge is giving ourselves permission to choose wisely and forgiving ourselves (and others) when we don't use wisdom. What you choose will grow you.

Think about how you can apply the CHOOSE acronym:

C - Cancel the guilt of your past.

H - Have trust in God, He is always with you.

O - Open yourself to connect with an AMAZING community of women.

O - Offer grace to yourself daily.

S - Savor the fact that YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKES.

E - Experience intentional choices every day that inspire growth.

Prayer: God, thank you for your grace. Because you have forgiven me, I can also forgive myself. Thank you for your love towards me. Help me to become a better version of myself each and every day. Amen.
