How to Discover Your Calling?Sýnishorn
The Three “G”s...
There are three secret steps to fulfilling the Great Commission. I call them the three G’s.
Do you know the steps to living out the Great Commission? I was privileged to be discipled by the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Ottawa. I know they took Matthew 28:19 to heart: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19, NIV).
That’s exactly what they did with me. Glenn Smith and his staff taught me the Word of God. They taught me the three big principles of a disciple: Going, Giving and Grinding.
1. Going: As a new disciple, I was taught to go deep in the Word, to be obedient and to win souls. I’ll never forget the Four Spiritual Laws and the Holy Spirit booklet that helped me live a practical Christianity. A disciple is a learner committed to a teacher or a leader. They taught me Christianity was a decision and a daily lifestyle.
Has anyone invited you to become a disciple?
2. Giving: This second principle bothered me the most. I was fifteen the first time I left home. Hardship taught me about struggle, hunger and pain. I was terrified to give money away or even trust people. Glenn sat with me one day to talk to me about giving to God, even tithing. It took me years to consistently obey, but I’ve learned God is generous. I’ve never been able to outgive Him. What is your experience with this?
3. Grinding: The Bible says we should “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...” (Matthew 28:19, NIV). Do you know how hard it is to make a disciple out of even one person? Can you imagine trying to do it with nations? Discipling the nations can be overwhelming, but Jesus reminds us in Matthew 19:26 that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26, NIV)
We are not spectators of the mission—we are participants and partners in it.
That’s why you’re a miracle.
