Six Truths to Simply ChooseSýnishorn
Feeling United.
Have you heard about FOMO? It’s short for the “fear of missing out.” Social media is the biggest culprit of making me enter FOMO mode, where I place myself on the couch and convince myself that I am alone. Whether it’s seeing friends dating, couples vacationing together or even church events, I see them shared live on stories and captured in posts, all while sitting on the other side of the screen feeling forgotten, left out, and lonely. It’s like there is a club that unites everyone together, but my membership card got lost in the mail.
Jesus was really good at making people feel wanted and included. People were drawn to Him wherever He went. He was never in a hurry, and He would stop for one person, even if the crowds were pushing in all around Him. Jesus came to the people, so they could come to the Father. He still does this today, for me and for you.
FOMO and comparisons can keep us so focused on the things of the past or the "not yet", that we miss the right now. We forget that God has chosen us, forever inviting us to join in on what He is orchestrating. Jesus, the Son, is united with God the Father, and we are invited to be united with them.
Jesus tells us that if we love God and keep His word, He makes His home with us here and now, today.
Even better? Jesus is preparing a place for us in Heaven where we will be united with Him and the Father for eternity. There, with a multitude of believers, we will be united as one perfect Church, never alone, singing of His goodness.
Read John 14:8-11, 21, 23 and take note of what sticks out to you in these verses.
Choose How can you live differently today knowing you are united with God?
Reflect Who or what tries to keep you alone, hindered from living united with God?
Pray Father, I anxiously await the day when I will be united with You face-to-face. Until that day comes, help me to see each day that I am already united with You now.
