Women and Money - She Handled It!

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: Ask God to reveal what you need

I think of the days when I worked at the wildlife center when we had to deal with raccoons. Those were the only animals that had specialized cages. When I needed to tend to a wound or do a hands-on examination, one volunteer would grab the two handles on the side of the cage and pull them forward as hard as they could. That would cause the back of the cage to slide forward squeezing the racoon to the front of the cage, immobilizing it, so I could sedate it with a shot. It was called a “squeeze cage.” We had to do this, because without sedation, that racoon and all its flexibility and ferocity would tear me apart (and a couple still did over those years). It didn’t matter that it weighed just fifteen pounds, it would do severe damage to me or anyone else within an arm’s length.

Women can be a bit like raccoons. You are tenacious, persistent, adaptable, and adorable. When you get backed into a corner, you come out fighting. I have always found myself drawn to stories of amazing women facing tremendous adversity and overcoming the challenges of life, whether self-imposed or completely unexpected.

You are remarkable! Stop waiting for someone else to care for you and start working to care for yourself (James 1:5). No more excuses. You are so very capable. Don’t tell yourself you can’t. Be your biggest cheerleader, not critic.

Reflection: Who is someone in your life that you admire, who has the financial security and peace that you desire? Treat them to lunch. Successful people love to sow their seeds into good, tilled soil. If you can’t think of someone, speak to a pastor or leader in your life and ask if they could recommend someone for you to speak with. (Luke 6:39)

Tip: Do a lot of listening (Luke 6:47-49). Ask for books, podcasts or seminars they like, then show them you greatly appreciated their time by circling back with an email or text about some of the tips you have learned and implemented. Express your appreciation of their time.
