Gems of Wisdom From the BibleSýnishorn
God’s wisdom is all around us
We might take for granted the facts that dew drops, rain falls from the clouds and that the sea doesn’t cross its boundaries. That’s ‘just natural’. But the Bible makes clear that all this was carefully and wisely planned by God. As He asks Job: “Who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb, when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, and prescribed limits for it and set bars and doors, and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?” (Job 38:8-11). We were not there when God laid the foundation of the earth. But wisdom was.
“When he established the heavens, I was there; [...]
when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
then I was beside him, like a master workman”.
Nature is not randomly put together, but functions according to God’s wise plans. Once we are aware of this, we can see God’s wisdom all around us. “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place […] O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8).
Do you marvel at God’s wisdom and rejoice in it?
