Foretold - Seeing Is BelievingSýnishorn
At Tyre’s zenith as a seagoing superpower, its center was an island fortress in the midst of the sea. Roughly a kilometer offshore from modern Lebanon, this city state is one of the oldest recorded cities in history.
City walls met the ocean and towered above the waves. Three horse-drawn chariots could be driven abreast around the top of the walls. Most of the population lived on the mainland, able to retreat across the sea behind the impregnable island walls when threatened with war.
Combined with a natural harbor, this was an ideal trading post of the ancient world that protected ships from storms and attack. Century after century, the wealth of the nations flowed through Tyre by land and sea.
In 586 BC, Ezekiel delivered a complex series of Bible predictions involving a succession of wars and ultimately foretelling the end of the island fortress superpower, with invaders scraping it down to the bare rock.
The Bible foretold that the seagoing superpower would never be rebuilt, ultimately becoming a place to spread fishnets.
As reported in 2017, the Lebanese city of Sour, with a population of roughly 80,000 citizens and surrounded by an estimated 120,000 refugees from the Syrian civil war, stands on and around the site of Tyre.
Roughly 20 percent of the old city's core population is employed by the local fishing industry, with the harbor limited to fishing and leisure.
The fortress and empire of Tyre are gone into the ocean, leaving fishermen to dry their nets on the rocks, even to this very day - as foretold 2,500 years ago.
The same God who foretold Tyre’s fall with exacting detail is the same God who delivered every other verse and detail in the Bible.
How? God describes Himself as the Alpha and Omega, Greek letters meaning the A to Z, the first to last. He sees all people throughout all time and intimately knows every moment of your life.
Whether you are new to Christian faith or weary with life and heavy with sin, if you still draw breath, the blood Jesus spilled on the cross pays for your sins of the past, present, and future.
There is no sin, no evil you can do, that His blood does not overcome with your repentance, even up to the moment of death. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you will be saved.
