Daily Bible Reading – February 2021 God’s Word of LoveSýnishorn
February 25
Introduction
God gives Moses laws for how the people of Israel are to live together as God’s holy people. They must put God first, work for justice, treat others with honesty and respect, and show love to their neighbors.
Today’s scripture reading
Leviticus 19:1-18
Today’s key verse: Leviticus 19:18a
Do not take revenge on others or continue to hate them, but love your neighbors as you love yourself.
Reflect
You may wish to compare today’s reading with the commandments outlined in Exodus 20:1-17 or Deuteronomy 5:1-21 and note their similarities. Being a holy people did not simply mean that the Israelites should avoid doing things that would make them unclean; it also meant that they should care for the needs of others, especially the poor. Are these commandments relevant for today? How can you apply them to your own life?
Pray
Lord God, teach me to be one of your holy people. Keep me grounded in your teachings so that I may reflect your love and live and serve with justice. Amen.
Prayer concern
Neighbors involved in disputes
Tomorrow’s reading
Deuteronomy 6:1-25: The people are told to obey God’s laws.
