Daily Bible Reading – February 2021 God’s Word of LoveSýnishorn
February 2
Introduction
Knowledge of God comes from obeying God’s commands. The “world” in this passage pertains to the realm of evil, which is temporary, whereas eternal life is promised to those who do the will of God.
Today’s scripture reading
1 John 2:1-17
Today’s key verse: 1 John 2:10
If we love others, we live in the light, and so there is nothing in us that will cause someone else to sin.
Reflect
What does it mean to you that Jesus pleads with the Father on your behalf? Reread verses 9-11. What does it mean to be in the darkness? What does it mean to live in the light? In verses 12-14, Christians of various levels of maturity are being addressed. What are they being told? Are there people who need to hear this message today?
Pray
Lord Jesus, you are the Righteous One who pleads on my behalf. You are the means by which my sins are forgiven. Help me to stay in union with God and to follow God’s commands. Amen.
Prayer concern
Friends who are in conflict
Tomorrow’s reading
1 John 2:18-29: Children of God do what is right.
