Introduction
Following his baptism, Jesus is led by the Holy Spirit into the desert where he is tempted by the devil for 40 days. He then returns to Galilee and teaches in the synagogues. This marks the beginning of his public ministry.

Jesus answered, “The scripture says, ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!’ ”
Reflect
Three times the devil tempts Jesus. In what ways does the devil test him? How does Jesus respond? Where or to whom do you turn for help when facing temptation or times of testing?
Pray
Lord God, I seek to worship you alone and serve only you. Strengthen my faith, help me to resist temptation, and sustain me daily with your precious Word. Amen.
