Untangling Truth

DAY 4 OF 6

Pop Quiz!

Sorry. Did today’s title make you panic? Don’t worry! There’s not going to be a grade on today’s pop quiz. It’s just for fun.

Actually, it might be kind of frustrating because it will show you how some untruths have gotten so tangled up into God’s truth that it can be hard to spot the lies. Are you ready to test your truth-spotting ability? Watch Quizman and play along!

Remember: Always run popular thoughts and ideas through the red-letter test. Does it match up with what Jesus taught? Great! Is there something that smells even a little bit rotten? Don’t build on that!

Building on truth leads to a solid, unshakable life. Even when problems come your way, if you’re standing on the truth that God loves you and is with you through it all, then you will have peace that can’t be shaken.

Ask yourself: What’s one thing Jesus taught that’s different from how the world usually acts?

Challenge yourself: The best way to know what Jesus taught is to read what He said. Pick a chapter from either Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John and read something Jesus taught. This may help you answer the “Ask yourself” question above. (Remember to look for the red letters found in many versions of the Bible!) Try to complete this within the next seven days.

Pray: God, thank You for the way Your truth can be trusted. You teach me truth because You love me. Walking and building on Your truth leads me to a more stable life. Thank You for teaching me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan

Untangling Truth

Is anything always true, or are things just “true for me” and “true for you”? And, when I feel strongly that I believe the truth—and you feel strongly that something different is true—how are we supposed to get along? This Bible Plan for preteens is here to help answer those questions! You’ll learn the lifelong habit of untangling truth from the mess of false teaching and tense conversations.
