Rest
“I keep six honest serving-men (They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why And When and How And Where and Who.
I send them over land and sea, I send them east and west;
But after they have worked for me, I give them all a rest.” Rudyard Kipling
There is a time for Passion. Vision. Action! Then there is a time for rest.
God created us in His infinite wisdom and He knows us better than we know ourselves. He built seasons and rhythms into our lives to make life manageable and also to create space for us to reflect, renew and be re-created; to get ready to launch out again for the next season of energy and accomplishment. As leaders we often feel the drive to keep going, and for a season or two we can do that. However, more often than not, as we ignore our God-given rhythms we pay the price and can lose so much of what we think we might have gained.
So today it's time to pause. After six days of looking at our Passion, Vision and Action, it's time to stop, reflect, and celebrate what God is stirring among you. Breathe.
Questions for reflection:
- How can you grow your Passion for God over the next week?
- Share your Vision idea with someone. What refinements do they suggest?
- Now that this devotional series is over, what are your next Action steps?
Be bold and courageous!
Action to take: Take a moment to thank God that you are loved and that God delights in you, even before you begin any great things. Write down a few things you are thankful that God has taught you through this short seven day devotional series.
