Loyal Sisterhood

DAY 4 OF 7

Be Real

Let’s be honest. We see fake everywhere. Fake stories, fake headlines, fake identities AND fake people.

Jesus is anything but fake. Jesus came to bring truth—truth that sets us free. In John 8, Jesus says if you are really my disciples then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

As a disciple of Jesus, a loyal sister is someone who only brings truth in love. I have had many blind spots in my life and I am so grateful to the women that are around me, my loyal sisters, who have pointed these out in love and I have changed as a result. But you must have a relational bridge that is strong enough to step across with loving truth.

“Never hold resentments for the person who tells you what you need to hear; count them among your truest, most caring, and valuable friends.“ - Mike Norton, author

Asking loyal  sisters to tell you the truth, even if it’s not what you want to hear, will help you in your growth and maturity.

“The bittersweet about truth is that nothing could be more hurtful, yet nothing could be more helpful.” - Mike Norton, author

If you are a loyal sister and a friend asks for some feedback consider this helpful, 3-point tool:

  • PRAY FIRST - Make sure you are being led by God’s spirit and not simply offering your opinion.

●  BE BRIEF - Don’t confuse the conversation with so many words that the truth gets lost.

●  BE HONEST, BUT LOVING - Choose your words carefully and lovingly.

If you want to grow and mature, be bold and ask someone for feedback.
