Advent Readings and PrayersSýnishorn
The Third Sunday in Advent
The third Sunday readings remind us of the shepherds, the first witnesses to Jesus. They also model for us how we should respond to Christ. The shepherds both told others about Christ and offered praise and thanksgiving to God for Christ. So should we.
Prayer
O Lord Jesus Christ, who at Your first coming sent Your messenger to prepare Your way, grant that the ministers and stewards of Your mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready Your way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at Your second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in Your sight, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

About this Plan
The word advent simply means “coming.” The Advent season refers to a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Christ at Christmas. Traditionally, the church has set aside the four Sundays before Christmas as the season of Advent. This plan contains an order of prayers and readings for the four Sundays in Advent and for Christmas Eve.
