FINDING REST IN THIS CRAZY BUSY WORLD

DAY 4 OF 4

R.E.S.T.

I love a good acronym, especially one that helps me engage with God's Word more deeply. Also, acronyms are a fun and creative way to use words to help in your Bible study. I came up with an acronym for the word "rest" when a brainstorm of ideas hit me like a torpedo at 3:00 AM one very early morning.  Does that ever happen to you?

The following morning, I glanced at the words I had scribbled on the notepad I keep on my nightstand used explicitly for such unexpected awakenings of slumber. Here's a tip: Never attempt to write in the dark and expect to be able to decipher what you jotted down the next morning! Anyway, here's my acronym for rest:

R - Refresh,        Refresh your soul with the guidance of Jesus (Psalm 23:3)

E - Enter,              Enter His gates with thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4)

S- Surrender,     Surrender to God completely (Gal 2:20)

T- Transform,    Transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2)

Now it's your turn! Grab your loved ones, and spend some time creating acronyms with words that will help you dive deeper into scripture. You can use a Bible concordance (an alphabetical listing of words and phrases found in the Bible), to help you. A Bible concordance will also show you where the terms occur throughout the Bible.  Have fun with it! I'm sure you'll come up with some great acronyms!

The Wiedman Bible Team hopes you enjoyed this prayer plan. Remember, God's best requires rest. We'd love to see your acronyms! You can send them to me, Carolyn, at cr@wiedmannbible.org. We just might post them on our social media accounts! God Bless!

Does life seem exhausting? Do you need to reboot, either physically or spiritually? We've all experienced exhaustion in this crazy busy world, but how often do we refuse to rest because we think it's unimportant or even considered being lazy? God prioritized rest after He created the world, and Jesus promises to give you rest when you come to Him. Jesus invites you to rest now.
