Daily Bible Reading - October 2020: God’s Life-Giving Word of Justice and PeaceSýnishorn
October 6
Introduction
In today’s reading, Isaiah describes how God will treat those who sin and rebel against him but will save everyone who repents. The reading concludes with a vision of the future Jerusalem and everlasting peace.
Scripture Reading
Isaiah 1:21—2:5
Today’s Key Verse: Isaiah 2:3b
He will teach us what he wants us to do; we will walk in the paths he has chosen.
Reflect
Reread 1:24-31. What will God do to those who rebel and sin against him: Reread verses 2-4 in chapter 2. What were your thoughts as you read these words? How do you envision what is described? In what ways does your life demonstrate that you “walk in the paths [God] has chosen” (verse 2:3)?
Pray
Merciful God, I repent of my sinful ways and offer you a humble and contrite heart. Teach me what you want me to do so that I walk in your righteous paths. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those working for peace and reconciliation among nations
Tomorrow’s Reading
Isaiah 3:1-15: Judgment on Jerusalem and Judah is pronounced.
