Living in Motion

DAY 1 OF 7

Have you ever had Déjà vu before? You walk into a shop, you have a conversation with your friend, and you just can't shake that feeling of “I feel like I've been here before.”

Life can get frustrating when it's like this because we like things to move forward. We want the new shoes, the new Netflix show, and the new NBA game (no one is bragging about firing up NBA 2K18).

Yet we face days where it feels like “I've been here before.” We face the same issues day in and day out. The same friendship drama comes back; the addictions and temptations that we thought we beat all of a sudden are making an appearance in our lives again.

It's these moments that can make us want to quit ... or worse, stop trying to fight them.

The Israelites were repeat offenders at living life like this. In the 40 years of wandering through the desert, they would thank God when He rescued them but when they got uncomfortable, they would be sad and say, "Take us back." They would thank God for miraculously supplying food for them but then complain when they got sick of it. The Israelites would remember God in the moment, yet they’d turn to other gods or safety measures when they got distant.

The Israelites did something we do all the time—they were living in the moment.

What suits me NOW?

What helps me NOW?

Who is nice to me NOW?

Who is draining from me NOW?

Do I need God NOW?

We go about life only focusing on what is good or bad for us now and not realizing that there's another turn coming up and we need to be prepared for it.

We need to build ourselves up every day and every moment—not just preparing for what's happening now in life, but also for what could be coming around the corner. Not just fighting to break the addiction or temptation now, but strengthening our soul so when it tries to come back, we are stronger and more reliant on God than ever before.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you that you are my provider and my comforter. There are things in my life I want to surrender to you. Help me to be strong to trust you in every moment of my life. I will not be dependent on how I feel in the moment, but I will trust your word and who you say you are.

About this Plan

Living in Motion

We seem to keep revisiting problems in life or situations one way or another; and it can get frustrating if you don't realize that's how life is meant to be experienced. Life is more like a game of monopoly; you've got to keep going! Keep building up in every season to make the next one better; that's how God intended it. Every day matters.
