Planting a Healthy ChurchSýnishorn
Follow the Leader
If you’ve ever watched a horse race, you may have wondered: Why do racehorses wear blinders?
These blinders, harnessed to the horse’s head, allow the horse to see only what is directly in front of it. They help the horse focus on the race and not be distracted by fans or other horses. They allow the horse to focus on one thing: running the race.
We can put on spiritual blinders, too. The Bible says in Hebrews 12 that we need to continue “fixing our eyes on Jesus.” We love this picture for church planters! What if you put on these spiritual blinders? There’s so much to distract us from our race to plant a church, but we need to focus on the path before us.
Get rid of the distractions that hinder you. Focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ. Fix your eyes on Him. Find your answers, your direction, your hope, your strategy, your identity, your everything in Jesus.
Let God’s Word remind you as a church planter, and more importantly as a follower of Christ, that Jesus is truly all you need. Get excited about what will be accomplished when you put on the spiritual blinders and follow your leader!
