MAN OF SORROWS
There is perhaps no passage in the Old Testament that so clearly predicts and describes the character, life, and mission of Jesus Christ. We see from this chapter as a whole that God’s servant would be humiliated and disfigured by suffering; He would be widely rejected; He would bear our sins and suffering; He would make a blood atonement; He would become our substitute; He would voluntarily accept our guilt and punishment; He would remain silent in the face of his enemies; He would justify many from their sin; He would die with transgressors; and He would be buried in a rich man’s tomb. The man of sorrows has experienced the worst the world has to offer and come out victorious on the other side. And for that, believers have reason to thank and praise Him for all eternity.
