DAY 21 OF 22

If God Can Use These Guys …

Exodus 35:35 describes two unlikely heroes, Bezalel and Oholiab. "He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen ...” (NLT). For a few months, more than a million Israelites had been vagabonds fleeing from powerful armies and scrambling to find enough food and water to survive. I doubt Moses and Aaron were thinking, “Things are tough. If only we had some fine purple linen embroiderers!”

On the surface, these two craftsmen didn’t stand out as particularly valuable or relevant in light of their nation’s dilemma. If I’m a tribal leader I’m thinking, “Give me warriors and skilled hunters, not stone carvers!” Yet God’s plan was to bless the people with His presence and offer a way for them to seek redemption. His plan was to do this through a specially designed decorative cloth tabernacle and its accessories. Immediately Bezalel and Oholiab became two of the most important people in the camp. Their years of training and work were just what was needed. Soon they were leading scores of workers and managing an abundance of donated resources.

Have you ever wondered how your experiences or talents could possibly be used to bring glory to God? Be thankful today for how He’s crafted you and open to how He can use you.
