A Compelling Truth: A 30 Day Journey through Galatians with Rob StanmoreSýnishorn
DAY 19
This passage sums up Paul’s key point in Galatians and is the compelling truth of the Gospel.
We cannot earn God’s acceptance by our performance, but we receive God’s acceptance through the gift of Jesus.
Therefore, we are free from performance-living when we are living in grace.
Paul makes a clear point that we need to stand firm in living in grace. As humans, we gravitate towards a belief of performance-based living because of how sin had entered the world in Genesis 3.
If we mess up, often our natural response is to think we let down God or we are now distant from Him.
God’s acceptance isn’t based on your performance or if you are having a ‘good day’ at keeping sin at bay. God’s acceptance is given as a gift to us by Jesus .
We need the constant reminder found in Galatians 5:1, to not allow ourselves to drift into the slavery of performance-thinking, but to stand firm and embrace grace-living.
Question
How does the revelation that God’s acceptance is given as a gift change the way you live?
