Faith to move mountains
‘Whoever says…and does not doubt in his heart…will have whatever he says.’ - Mark 11:23 NKJV
Mark 11:23 says ‘Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them’ (NIV). God’s promise that our belief in Him can let us see mountains jump into the sea is incredible. However, sometimes we can be left feeling like we can’t quite summon up that amount of faith. When we’re left wondering how to pray like that, with complete belief, it’s important to look back. It can be helpful to have a mental collection of all the miraculous things that you know God has done in the past, whether for you, for others, or in the Bible. Holding on to what you know of Him is exactly how to grow your faith in your current situation. When you find yourself faced with a situation that seems too big for you to even imagine being solved, ask yourself ‘When have I seen God work in a situation like this?’. Think through your past experiences, look through the events of the Bible, and ask those around you if they’ve seen God in any similar circumstances of their own. Once you’re armed with the confidence that God has moved before, you can speak to your situation with authority. You can look at whatever is facing you, no matter how big, and tell it that God will throw it into the sea. Stand in the full belief that He has done it before, and will do it again.
What Now?
Start your collection of mountain-moving moments. Get a journal, or start a note on your phone, and fill it with the times that you know God has done amazing things, big or small, in your life. Update it as you see more of His work.
