The Daring Dad

DAY 5 OF 7

Monopoly. The never-ending game that causes fights, cheating, and giving up. Are you a Park Place and Boardwalk guy? Do you buy them first chance you get, or do you pass at the opportunity? Don’t you hate it when you are low on money and need to pass "Go," but as you move the thimble, you stop at “Go to Jail”? Ugh! Wait three turns unless you roll doubles OR you have a "get out of jail free" card. If you do, the game continues as if it had never stopped. I love “get out of jail free" cards!

Growing up, I got in trouble all the time. Many times I got caught; other times my actions went unnoticed. When I wasn’t caught, I was always afraid to come clean out of fear of the punishment I would receive. I so desperately wished I could confess but use a "get out of jail free" card and move on. The "get out of jail free" card is like grace. Although we deserve punishment, Jesus has given us grace. Yes, we have consequences because of our actions, but the consequence of being separated from Jesus has been taken off the table

I DARE YOU to give your kids a "get out of jail free" card. Today, ask them to tell you about a time they did something wrong but didn’t get caught. They will not get “in trouble” because of what they share. You may have to come alongside them to set up some guardrails so the mistake doesn’t happen again. Grace.

About this Plan

The Daring Dad

Being a dad is difficult. You have so much responsibility. So much to do. Many of us put being a dad on the back burner - until we find ourselves in a place we don't want to be. I dare you to be a great dad.
