Until the Spirit Comes

DAY 5 OF 10

Repentance from Sin & Faith towards God

“The chief danger of the Church today is that it is trying to get on the same side as the world, instead of turning the world upside down. Our Master expects us to accomplish results, even if they bring opposition and conflict. Anything is better than compromise, apathy, and paralysis. God, give to us an intense cry for the old-time power of the Gospel and the Holy Ghost!” - A.B. SIMPSON

The Holy Spirit is Holy.  Only that which is declared righteous in the eyes of God can be considered holy before Him. Our righteousness is not of ourselves, but we who are in Christ are declared righteous through His work on the cross.  As we turn from sin in repentance, we also turn to Jesus Christ in faith, knowing we are saved by grace through faith. It is both the repentance from sin and faith towards God through the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ, that we are positioned to receive the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Without both repentance and faith, we are not able to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Is there room for any necessary repentance and renewed faith in your heart?

About this Plan

Until the Spirit Comes

Jesus ascended to heaven forty days after his resurrection. During that time He appeared to His followers, saying, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." Waiting can be difficult. Behind closed doors, praying and waiting for the gift of the Spirit… for ten days. God is up to something!
