Restless

DAY 2 OF 7

It is one thing to need physical rest, like after pulling a 16-hour shift, throwing a slumber party for your middle-school daughter, or doing yard work all day. It’s a different type of rest when your soul needs rest. Your mind won’t shut off. Worry consumes you. One more task, one more to-do, one more errand. The initial stress grows louder and louder and there is no off switch. Jesus says that if we come to him that he will give us rest - for our souls. What does that even feel like or look like? “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Why is His yoke so easy, and His burden so light? Because Jesus is right there alongside us to help carry it all.

In the farming world, a farmer would often yoke a new ox to an experienced ox, so the new ox could learn from the older, stronger, more experienced animal.  The older ox bore the burden and guided the younger animal through the learning process. In the same way, Jesus leads us, teaches us, bears the burden for us, and He never takes the yoke off. Jesus promises to walk alongside us forever! Will you take Him up on this offer?

About this Plan

Restless

Do you ever feel tired? Do you lack energy? Do you get restless, constantly squirming around, can’t find comfort anywhere, with anything, or with anyone? Maybe you are in a continual rhythm of stress. It’s constant. But if you’re honest, you actually thrive on it. But is this the life you want to live? Can you sustain this pace for another day, week, or year? You're rest-less.
