CHRIST CAME FOR ALL Sýnishorn
Most of us can understand the feeling of being trapped. Whether we’ve been locked out of the house, or we’ve run out of gas on the side of the road. Getting stuck incites feelings of frustration, helplessness, and anger. In these situations, we can usually make a quick phone call to a friend or our auto club and someone almost always comes to the rescue.
But many of us can also understand the feelings of fear, pain, bitterness, or shame that are born from sin. These feelings can be crippling and cause long term damage to a healthy life. Maybe we feel trapped by harmful habits, or chained to bad decisions in our past. Maybe we are imprisoned by our own mistakes and embarrassed and ashamed to reach out for help.
This Scripture in Romans 5:6-8 provides hope and a lifeline:
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
I can’t help but be thankful and amazed at the generosity of God toward me. He has freed me from my sins and the punishment of death. Even more than that, He calls me his child. Read what Apostle Paul says in the New Testament:
“So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” (Galatians 4:7)
What keeps you from living a life of freedom?
Are you trapped by the shame of past decisions? Are you paralyzed by fear? Are you immobilized by addiction? Are you handcuffed to the lies of the evil one saying you’re not valuable or lovable?
When Jesus died on the cross, He broke all of the chains that keep us bound up as a slave to sin. Praise God! He has set us free!
Our shame is gone
And our chains no more
Hallelujah
We stand in awe
Prayer:
Thank you, God, for paying the price for our freedom. Thank you for loving us and calling us sons and daughters. Because of Your sacrifice, we can live the life You have planned for us with confidence and joy. We trust You to carry our pain and our past as we step into Your bright future. We are in awe of the grace You have poured out for us. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
