Authentic Purity Sýnishorn
Purity
Purity is an area in our lives where it is difficult to be authentic. God calls us to make purity a priority. When we have impurity in our hearts, it robs us of our vision and clarity in understanding God. In fact, it robs us of our destiny and spiritual authority. God wants us to carry the gospel. He wants your life to back up what you preach and He wants you to live more by character than charisma.
According to God’s Word, purity is possible, though not easy. God calls us to be holy, as He is holy. This is absolutely impossible in the natural and only possible through the supernatural grace of God. When we want to be pure before God, we come to that desire by His Spirit working in us. When we choose to live a life that is righteous and conforms to Him, that is His grace working in our lives.
Purity requires power. Where is the power we need in order to live pure in this world? How do we keep our hearts and minds pure when sins such as greed, lust, and other impure things bombard our lives? First, through the power of the cross. The Word says if we walk in the light and confess our sins, Jesus’ blood purifies us from sin and unrighteousness. Second, through the power of the Word. We can stay on a path of purity by living according to His Word. Last, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul says when we walk by the Spirit, we do not gratify the desires of the flesh. The Spirit works to make us pure like Jesus.
Purity is both a crisis and experience in our lives. When we come to a place of full surrender to Jesus and open ourselves to Him, we begin a process where He purifies over time. God’s general, perfect will for you is that you be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. The power of the cross, the Word, and Holy Spirit will keep turning up the heat and putting pressure on you to get the impurities out of your life.
There are practical steps to staying on a path of purity. Be a person who runs from sin. Have an accountability partner who will ask you tough questions such as, “Are you staying pure?” Feed your spirit with the things of God and strengthen your inner self. Be vigilant and fight for purity. Worship consistently and witness to others about God’s great love. Most importantly, fall in love with your Savior. His blood is your only hope.
Jesus is after a reflection of Himself in your life.
