The Five SolasSýnishorn
Glory of God
God saved us for His glory. God is transforming us so that we can be able to worship and honor God for who He is. As we recognize our tendency to steal God’s glory, we need to repent of the fact that we worship the creature and creation and not the Creator.
God’s glory is the ultimate climax and theme of all things. Why does God save us by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone as revealed in Scripture alone? He does this for His glory alone. God’s glory is the purpose for which we were created. All things are for Him, through Him and to Him. To Him be the glory forever.
But there is a problem we face. We don’t live for His glory. We tend to glorify and worship something else other than God and give it the place of God in our lives. God reveals His truth, but we exchange His truth for a lie. We glory in ourselves, the work of our hands and we are guilty of idolatry. And when we do this, we withhold the glory that is due to God.
God saved us for His glory. God is transforming us so that we can be able to worship and honor God for who He is. As we recognize our tendency to steal God’s glory, we need to repent of the fact that we worship the creature and creation and not the Creator.
Our view of God’s glory and our vain pursuit of our own glory is changed as we look at the cross where the King of glory suffered and died for us. He gave up His glory for our sake. Why would we seek our glory when infinite glory awaits us in Christ?
