Drama (And How to Deal)Sýnishorn
Family Drama
Today, you’re learning about one of the most common sources of relationship drama: family drama.
Every family goes through seasons when they’re just getting on one another’s last nerve more than usual. Or seasons when arguing and grouching seem more common than talking and laughing.
It can be difficult to live through. But, God (of course!) has the answer on how to break through family drama. Watch this video with Kirby for some great strategies on how to deal.
Did you get all that? Maybe you should watch the video again. It was filled with amazingness!
A few of the highlights:
- You can’t choose your family, but you can choose how you act within your family.
- Serve your family with love.
- Embrace compromise.
- Recognize where you may be at fault within family conflicts.
- Apologize.
- Forgive.
- Remember that love isn’t always easy—it’s a choice.
- Lead with love.
Guess what? These tips for how to deal with family drama are perfect for how to deal with all the relationship drama you’ve learned about in this Bible Plan.
Drama is out there. But it doesn’t have to be inside you. You can deal with drama by clothing yourself in God’s love.
Ask yourself: Do I ever add to family drama? How can I start to take ownership for the role I play in family drama? Do I need to ask forgiveness of someone in my family? Do I need to extend forgiveness? How can I display God’s love to my family?
Challenge yourself: Can you recite Colossians 3:13-14 yet? Choose your favorite phrase from that verse, and write it out. Then, decide what you will do with it so you’ll be able to focus on it this week. Maybe write it in colors or draw an artistic design around it and hang it on your wall. Maybe write it in small letters, fold it up, and keep it in one of your pockets everywhere you go this week.
Pray: God, Your love is amazing. It binds us together in harmony. Harmony is so much better than drama. Help me to choose love even when I’d rather fuss, fight, and complain to my family. Help me to be a source of positive change within my family. In Jesus’ name, amen.
